AUTHOR: Slublog DATE: 1/27/2004 08:56:00 AM ----- BODY: Bring Me the Head of Larry Purpuro! - The coordinator of the Republican party's e.GOP project doesn't seem to understand the web. In a Fox News story about blogs, Purpuro says many bloggers are nothing more than "armchair analysts in their bathrobes [with] no serious interest in leaving their living rooms to actually help the campaigns." What's wrong with this guy? Blogs have helped push stories that would have been ignored by the major media, can help mobilize campaigns through constant communication and can help advocate for a particular cause or candidate. Now, I have no illusions about this blog - it's read mainly by other bloggers, family members and my friend Steve. Other than that, it can hardly be called influential. It is, however, part of a network of blogs that do support the re-election of President Bush and I have written countless words to that effect. If a blog like this can influence one voter to support the president, then it's accomplished something. Perhaps Purpuro has been too busy of late to peruse the net he's supposed to be a part of? --------
