AUTHOR: Slublog DATE: 9/26/2003 09:38:00 AM ----- BODY: Clark in 2001 - Opinion Journal has a transcript of a speech General Wesley Clark gave in May of 2001 at a Republican fund raiser. The speech is quite good, actually. Clark makes some good points about Europe and Russia, and about the Middle East. It's too bad that Clark feels the need now to pander to the worst element of modern American politics - the need to hate the president from the other party. From what I've read of the debate, though, Clark handled himself well. He's the first Democrat to put forth a few positive ideas to augment his criticism of the president. Still, those statements in support of Bush and Reagan may not go over well in the angry left. --------
